Jerry Blitz Memorial Mixed Doubles Thournament
This past weekend we held the Jerry Blitz Memorial Mixed Doubles Tournament which was a huge success. With the prediction of rain on Sunday, we held the tournnament all on Saturday with both the A and B Flights competing in the main draw and a consolation round for both A and B Flights.
Last years A flight winners were Champions again this season, holding back the same defenders from last season final.
Debbie Kaufman and Caleb Willett defeated Amy Jones with a 10-6 victory in the A Flight.
The B Flight winners were also repreating champions, Nikki Tierney and John Sarrouf with a victory over Robin Vanick and Randy Widfeldt 10-2.
A Consoltion winners were Diana Blitz and Brad Mendalson winning 8-3 over Christopher Noyes and Donna Crocker. Gerda and Don Pasquello won the B Consolation defeating Christine Simmons and John Dixon.
Play for Pink
What a wonderful day of tennis and pickle ball on Wednesday for our annual Play for Pink Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser. Thanks to Lucia Darr and Janice Confalone for donatios of raffle items, and being in charge of the entire event. Also, thanks to Les Bebchick who donates all the extras, including the food, decorations and flowers. which he donates in memoriy of his dear wife Sheila.
Everyone had a wonderful day and presently we are close to $3,900. We are still receiving donations from those who were unable to attend the event.
Laurie Herrmann Couallier Memorial Ladies Doubles Tournament
We held the thournament on Saturday due to the weather and finished on day, Sunday with the A flight Finals
We had 18 teams competing and all total in the A and B Flights with consolation rounds for each.
The A flight played their match Sunday and the team of Debbie Kaufman and Diana Blitz squeaked out a 10-9 victory over Lindsay Chace and Lindsay Sones. Just exciting and thrilling and competitive tennis.
The B Flight was won by Leslie Marcelynes and Jen Ross 10-8 defeating Nikki Tierney and Marie Wick. Another great competitive match.
Amy Jones and Katie Perry defeated Nancy Garvey and Wendy Brady 8-4 in the A consolation final and the B consolation final was won by Jen Bappe and Susan Burr 8-1.
Great tournament.
